Healthy snacks for energy - Health Key

When I read this in the L.A. Times (one of my favorite health sections), it definitely hit a familiar nerve. I am one of those on the go people who sometimes neglects to plan ahead for feeding the hunger while fueling the brain. With a little desperation, the snack machine can easily talk me into a pack of Peanut M & M's. There's just something about M & M's that helps the coffee and the day go down.

My favorite two of five energy snack suggestions from this list are almonds and dark chocolate. Both are easy access, relatively inexpensive, and good for the plumbing inside the body. Almonds can be bought in bulk in the produce section of the grocery store - - the raw, untoasted almonds, free of additives and preservatives. And dark chocolate, good for the brain and the blood, is as available as toilet paper.

There are other good suggestions: organic yogurt, organic apples, and green smoothies. But all snacks are taken in moderation of course, which for me, can be a whole new issue.
