Food Dye Update

A new article on food dyes was released in "Environmental Perspectives", a National Institute of Health (NIH) publication on the risks of consuming dyed foods. Thought it might be of interest as a follow-up to my online Clarion Ledger Health Scene column on artificial dyes.

As mentioned in my recent article, all food containing artificial dyes in Europe must now have a warning label that reads, ""may have effects on activity and attention in children."

For access to the NIH article, "The Artificial Food Dye Blues" copy and paste the following URL:

The amount of dyes used in food manufacturing coupled with the amount a child consumes in a day or week, is worthy of serious consideration.
